Maute, Matthias
Matthias Maute's reputation as an orchestra leader and conductor has grown impressively during the past few years. Since founding Ensemble Caprice as a chamber music group in 1989, he has developed the ensemble to become increasingly known as a Baroque orchestra that performs with distinguished singer soloists and a choir. Several recent Caprice concerts with this configuration have been recorded for broadcasts by CBC/Radio-Canada.
Before establishing his career and achieving an international reputation as a recorder player, flutist and composer, Matthias became interested in developing his leadership skills at the age of sixteen, when he began to conduct choirs.
