Jean-Philippe Tremblay has, at age 31, an impressive and varied international career. He has conducted l’Orchestre national de France, the National Symphony Orchestra (Washington), the London Philharmonic and Philharmonia orchestras, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Radio Orchestra of Dresden, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Ensemble Moderne Contemporain in Paris, the Budapest Radio Chamber Orchestra, the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and the National Arts Centre Orchestra where he was Assistant Conductor to Pinchas Zukerman from 2001 to 2003. He is Music Director of the Orchestre de la Francophonie since its founding in 2001.

Jean-Philippe Tremblay’s 2009-2010 conducting season began with the inaugural concert of the Royal Conservatory of Music’s new concert hall in Toronto. He will also be guest conductor with the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra, Venezuela, the National Orchestra of Spain, the Danish Radio Orchestra, the Philharmonic of the Americas, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the London Chamber Players, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. In the spring, he will lead the Philharmonic Orchestra of China for the inaugural ceremony of the World Fair in Shanghai.

Mr. Tremblay has received the Joyce Conger Award for the Arts, the Rose Roitman Award as well as the Musician’s Prize at the 2002 Dimitri Mitropoulos International Competition for Orchestral Conducting (Greece). In 2004- 2005, he was selected by Kurt Masur and Christoph von Dohnanyi as one of three participants in the Allianz International Conductors Academy in London.

Mr. Tremblay studied viola, composition and conducting at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec, the Faculty of music at Université de Montréal, the Pierre Monteux School, Maine, Tanglewood Music Center and the Royal Academy of Music in London. He has studied with Robert Spano, Seiji Ozawa, Andre Previn, Jorma Panula, and Michael Jinbo.
